Early Voting Access

Early Voting Access post thumbnail image

Voting should be convenient, accessible, and fair for every Winter Springs resident — not a logistical obstacle.

Today, Winter Springs is the only municipality in Seminole County without an early voting site. That reality places an unnecessary burden on residents, particularly seniors and those with limited mobility, who must travel farther than voters in any other city just to cast an early ballot.

This is not an abstract issue. It’s one residents have already spoken up about.

Community-Driven Advocacy

Over the past year, residents have come together to petition city leadership to formally request an early voting location in Winter Springs. That petition received strong community support and laid out a clear, workable solution: designating the Winter Springs Civic Center as an early voting site beginning with the 2026 election cycle.

This effort reflects a simple belief — Winter Springs residents deserve the same access to early voting as every other city in the county.

Why the Civic Center Makes Sense

  • Centrally located in a highly populated area of the city
  • Easily accessible to underserved neighborhoods such as the Highlands, Hacienda Village, and North Orlando Ranches
  • Fully ADA compliant and already equipped to serve as a voting location
  • No disruption to Senior Center activities — voting would occur in the separate Civic Center building
  • No cost or staffing burden on the city — operations would be handled entirely by the Supervisor of Elections

The Impact

Based on resident travel analysis:

  • 77% of Winter Springs residents would save time getting to the polls
  • For those who benefit, average drive time would be reduced by nearly 50%

This is not about politics or partisanship.
It’s about fair access, equal treatment, and respect for voters.

Bringing Early Voting Closer to Home

Every major city in Seminole County offers early voting to its residents. Winter Springs should be no exception.

This platform commits to continuing the work already underway — turning community advocacy into action and ensuring that early voting is finally available here at home.
