No. I do not believe hyperscale data centers belong in Winter Springs.
I’ve spent years advocating for our water resources, and my professional background is in technology and data. I understand the enormous potential of AI and cloud computing. But supporting technology doesn’t mean every piece of technological infrastructure belongs in every community.
Hyperscale data centers are massive industrial facilities that can consume tremendous amounts of electricity and water. Winter Springs is a family-oriented bedroom community already confronting major water and infrastructure challenges. Our water resources, utility infrastructure, and residential quality of life should come first.
Florida’s Legislature recently affirmed that these decisions belong at the local level. SB 484, signed into law in May 2026, specifically preserves local governments’ authority to regulate large data centers through their comprehensive plans and land-development regulations.
As Mayor, I would use that authority to protect Winter Springs from hyperscale data-center development. Not every type of development belongs everywhere, and this type doesn’t belong here.
